Palm TX user review

A little over a week ago wifey and I broke down and bought two Palm TX’s as anniversary presents for ourselves to replace our aging Sony Clie T615’s. You know you’ve turned into an old married couple when you buy gadgets for your 16th anniversary. On the other hand I took her out on a day long date on the actual day so there’s still romance there :-).

I know that Palm spells the name of this new device Palm T|X but I and wifey much prefer just "Palm TX". It’s the Texas Palm. Unfortunately it’s not nearly as big feature-wise.

In general we both like them. There are some things we really like (built-in wifi, larger screen) and some we don’t. They’re all detailed below.

Extending developer life with press-n-seal

If you’re like me and you only have time for a hologram or two in the morning and maybe another few in the evening (if you’re lucky), you can extend the mixed life of your two-part developers with press-n-seal

Playing with NVGs

I was able to borrow some night vision goggles from work and had fun playing in the lab and out in the yard

It’s really tempting to get a pair of these for use in the lab. I could reduce my safelight levels to practically zero

Update on BatteryGeek

This is a follow-up to my last review of BatteryGeek.

On September 15th Sean from BatteryGeek contacted me about a review of his battery pack I’d posted on Amazon. He was "painfully disappointed" about it and wasn’t sure where the ball was dropped but suspected that their relocation from Texas to Oregon was the source of the customer service problems I’d experienced.

He asked if I would "kindly consider removing your negative feedback and whatever other negative comments you have left for my company and products anywhere else on the web."

You’re selling what??

Ok, last week after work I went off to get some various Margarita fixin’s down the road.

I also stopped nearby to get some gas.

At the top of the receipt where the name of the establishment would normally be there was a quite unexpected title.

Note, the following isn’t entirely work safe and if you’re easily offended, don’t even look

New Gallery and Forum

Our server was recently upgraded so I had the space to put the forum back and add a picture gallery.

There’s not much in the forum right now but I’ll be adding things as time goes on and others are welcome to use it as a public place to ask questions about anything here.

The gallery has a number of pictures available and it will only get bigger.

Is the Usa Becoming a Police State?

Just to make things clear, I blame Bush (dubya) and his politically appointed cronies for the situation in NOLA.

It’s a horrible situation that while not completely avoidable could have been handled differently beginning with preparations that should have begun years ago.

The question that’s been growing in my mind since 9/11 is "are we slowly and inexoribly moving towards a complete police state under Bush?" For that matter, has this been happening for decades and I just haven’t noticed? To me it seems that the we really started to lose our basic rights with the creation of Homeland Security.
