Shrooms of Rutledge Lake July 16 edition

It’s been great fun wandering the woods near the park where we’re staying.

We’ve found at least one edible type of mushroom (Smooth Chanterelle) since we arrived and it seems like we run across new forms every time we go out.

A few from today are:

With one of the most interesting and creepy being this Beefsteak mushroom which I’m going to go out and pick in the morning, now that I know it’s edible.

Several more images are available for your viewing pleasure over here.

We also ran across this Ghost Pipe plant which has no chlorophyll and has to get nutrients to live on from the mycelium living in the forest floor.
