Green transmission test 4

hologram test 4 preview
Yeah, I didn’t post the results of test 3, get over it :-).

The third test on the floor, using the PVC breadboard was passable but nothing to write home about compared to test 2.

Test 4 though came out very nice.

I put the layout on my regular table for added stability but kept the small plateholder.

Once again I scattered objects about and used a transfer mirror to redirect some of the spill light back to the other side of the objects.

I set the reference light up so it was coming from the right using a lens that didn’t waste too much light.

From left to right (as one is viewing the hologram) I had the transfer mirror, some sand bags (which oddly enough look like crumpled paper in the final hologram and R2D2.

The mirror isn’t easy to see since it’s not reflecting anything interesting but it’s in there as well.

Following that is one of my many Snoopy subjects and a bunch of letter beads and if you look closely you’ll see some black felt in the background. You won’t know that’s what it is, so take my word for it. It’s about 16" away from the plate holder.

Moving farther to the right we see yet more (or the same) letter beads and a blocking card in the background, about 18" away from the plate holder. Would you believe the card is black?

We’re almost to the end, stay with me.

Now we’ve got another Snoopy (with Woodstock on his head) and a moose thingy that is a test subject from going on 20 years ago.

Snoopy is 16" away from the plate holder.

Because I’m having fun, here’s a shot of the beads that were right next to the film.

What happens next? Now I’ve run out of green sensitive film to play with I can get down to the serious business of integrating the laser into the table by making a shelf for it to sit on, devising the cooling method I’ll use and make a shutter that can withstand 100mW of power.
