Even though I’ve only recently been made aware of the true nature of the creation of the universe, my enthusiasm for FSMism has clearly been noted by the Flying Spaghetti Monster as he’s appeared to me while I was working on a hologram.
It happened on the morning of August 23rd while I was making a test shot for my entry in the Holography Forum contest.
Everything was ready to go, the scene was set, exposure time was calculated and I set the computer and left the room while the film was settling and finally exposed.
About halfway through the settling phase (this is where the camera stabilizes so that a hologram can be made) I heard an odd noise and would swear on a pile of spaghetti three feet high that I saw a flash of marinara-colored light from beneath the lab door.
When the computer signaled that the exposure was complete I entered the lab (where I am sure I caught a whiff of basil) and developed the film as normal.
It was at this point that I came to the full realization that something was not quite right.
After developing a hologram I typically use my lab room light to get a general feel for how things turned out without having to wait until the film is dry. Instead of the light pattern I expected to see, I found that there was a very bright glow in the center with flashes of light around the outside. Given the other things that had happened during the exposure I was starting to get a feeling that I’d find something quite amazing once the film had dried.
I wasn’t disappointed.
Very clearly, in the center of the hologram there appears an image of the Flying Spaghetti Monster surrounded by unearthly lights. His eyes are looking out of the hologram at me and one of his noodly appendages is reaching toward me as if beckoning me to the Holy Land.
I don’t know why he appeared to me but I’ve found that I can copy the original hologram and I can only conclude that he wants me to help swell the ranks of the faithful by spreading His image as far and wide as possible.
